Advanced Apps

The following apps are for those doing their AI in Emergency Medicine, but can also be considered by those who are doing their clerkship in Emergency Medicine.

ERres: This is the swiss army knife of Emergency Medicine apps. The app has basically all the quick reference information you would need at your fingertips in the Emergency Room.

Kidometer: Kidometer is a great app to use when you’re in the pediatric Emergency Room and will also be useful in your pediatric clerkship. It quickly lets you know what “normal” vital signs are for pediatric patients, along with providing a massive amount of pediatric specific content — such as milestones, normal lab values, and more.

Websites

The two websites to consider reading during your Emergency Medicine clerkship rotation are Life in the Fastlane and Academic Life in EM.

The best way to use Life in the Fast Lane(LITFL) is to use the search function to look for specific topics.  Eg. If you want to learn more about “Syncope” — utilize the search feature to look for this topic and you’ll get a nice summary that is Emergency Medicine specific.

They also have a ECG library that is worth checking out.

The best way to use Academic Life in EM is to look at weekly updates as Dr. Lin’s team produces peer review material frequently.
