Resuscitation!
Resuscitation is a great virtual simulation app made by EM Gladiators.
The app is free to download and offers several case based in-app purchases.
Resuscitation presents you with a patient case, and lets you be the primary physician for the patient. It’s critical to note how detailed the app gets — you are put in the driver seat, and you have to be remember key tasks, such as placing an IV and starting a patient on telemetry. You have the ability to intubate patients, put in chest tubes, and do a host of other advanced procedures as well.
I would recommend trying a few of the free cases first so you can get an idea of how the app works, and then purchasing at least one of the Emergency Medicine specific modules that is available.
Resuscitation is currently the best patient simulation app for medical students and residents and an example of how medicine will be taught to students in the future.
Note — The app does have an annoying feature of trying to use Game Center so that you can share your results with peers — you can easily hit “cancel” to avoid this prompt.
